These systems were designed to power high performance nuclear fusion based devices for the purpose of driving the future of medical and homeland security applications. Consequently, they are some of the most advanced on the market today, while maintaining a price that is competitive with much less sophisticated systems.
By combining Rockwell’s reliability and experience with the exciting and innovative high voltage concepts pioneered by PNL, these new power systems incorporate a barrage of high-tech components. The system boasts capabilities such as 1 microsecond overload detection, 50 microsecond time for the power system to completely disable, low stored energy, and inductive current limiters.
Combine these advanced features with low ripple, tight regulation, fiber optic signal coupling, IGBT driven primary power and a PLC based control network, and you have the most sophisticated power supply technology available.
Currently, PNL is producing power supplies capable of delivering up to 300 kV and 90 kW.
