Position Overview:

The Materials Coordinator at PNL is responsible for receiving, inventory movement and shipping logistics. The Materials Coordinator will perform SAP transactions, suggest process improvements, and participate in selected general facility organization and maintenance activities.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and Shipping
    • Physically receive, track, move and apply inventory items.
    • Accept and inspect incoming goods determining their condition and appropriateness for use.
    • Hold goods in quarantine that need to be inspected before being stored.
    • Ensure that part number properties are properly applied to individual items.
    • Ensure that inventory is safely transported and stored.
    • Ensure that inventory is properly applied to the appropriate projects through SAP transactions.
    • Ensure that all service or expense items are delivered to the requesting parties.
    • Perform all SAP transactions to manage receipts so that inventory is applied properly in the system.
    • Sign, file or pass on all receiving documents after determining their accuracy.
    • Transport and store all inventory materials into their proper facilities and locations.
    • Transport non-inventory items to original requestor or notify same of the receipt for disposition
    • Physically pack and ship items as required and perform all related SAPB1 transactions.
    • Arrange for pick-ups and expedite deliveries when required. Deliver items to outside facilities as required.
  • Facility Management
    • Assist in organizing the warehouse/labs to provide for safe and efficient storage and movement of materials of all sorts.
    • Assist in organizing locations for the efficient, proper and safe storage of capital asset inventory.
    • Ensure that inventory is properly identified.
    • Ensure that all hazardous materials are safely stored.
    • Generally, police and keep warehouse areas organized and neat.
  • SAP and Inventory system utilization
    • Participate in improvement teams for SAP general updates and process enhancements as required.
    • Participate in process improvements in links between systems and SAPB1 and possible bolt-ons like bar coding.
  • Miscellaneous and Technical Tasks
    • Participate in projects and requested
      • Perform assembly and test functions when necessary to advance project completion
      • Participate in quality control or process improvement projects as assigned. 


  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds and be trained to drive forklift.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of SAP or other such systems desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail with organizational skills.
